Thornhill Manor resident – author of six books

P1140738 (480x640)Ann Goodfellow believes in counting her blessings. A resident of Rand Aid Association’s Thornhill Manor retirement village, she gives thanks every day for life’s little gifts – and helps scores of other people do the same.

The author of six Christian books, Ann writes a daily devotion that goes into a weekly prayer guide for the Germiston Methodist Church, the Church on the Way in Modderfontein – which is headed up by her son Mark, and which is also emailed to a large database of friends who love receiving Ann’s inspirational messages.

Ann’s first book was accepted for publication in 2008, the year she turned 71. “I had begun writing prayers and devotions more than 25 years before, through a weekly prayer letter for my church. I enjoyed writing, but never thought of publication. But after I retired, God kept prompting me to write books. Yes! Books. Not just one!” she says.

The first book took over three years to put together – and many more years of rejection after rejection from publishers.

Today, Ann’s six books are available in printed form as well as eBooks and are readily available in most parts of the world, except South Africa, where they are not available in bookstores despite that she is published by reputable company Evangelista Media. “It is frustrating,” she says of the difficulties experienced in getting her books accepted by domestic bookstores.

However, where there’s a will there is a way and Ann has distributed many of her books in South Africa through a network of friends and contacts. She also has a Facebook Author page to which she posts a daily devotion.

A Thornhill resident for the past three years, Ann says she loves the peace and quiet and sense of security provided by the village, as well as the friendliness of the people she has interactions with.

God is Waiting to Meet You, God Wants You to Know Him, God Wants to Bless You, God’s Promises, Today is No Ordinary Day and Encountering God are available from Ann –, or as Kindle and print books from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Evangelista Media.
