The country fell in love with Bobby van Jaarsveld when he charmed The Voice SATV audiences. He often wore his soft heart on his sleeve and it is his special stage presence that makes him the perfect headliner at this year’s Sappi Mother’s Day concert.
Joining him on stage will be another South African great – renowned soprano Corlea Botha – who made her theatre debut in Grade 2 in the Italian opera La Boheme in the Pretoria State Theatre.
The pair will put a song in hearts and send concert-goers home brimming with feel-good emotion. Just what Mother’s Day calls for!
The concert, with Jacaranda FM as a media partner, takes place at the Lowveld National Botanical Garden on 14 May. Gates open at 9am and the concert starts at 12 noon.
Well choreographed and coordinated, Corlea’s opening act will include some serious classical symphonies, whilst Bobby will perform the classics of our life time. However, above all, it will be centred on family, community and togetherness.
It is in this spirit that the first 300 families at the concert will be able to have a professional family portrait taken – for free – at the Sappi photo booth.Apart from the wonderful music line-up, there will be guided garden walks; brewing and beverage company Distell will offer complimentary wine tasting to the first 300 mothers; and a full programme of fun has been organised for the little ones at the kiddies’ entertainment area, including a Master Chef Cupcake Kitchen, jumping castle, potting shed, arts and craft activities, face painting and much more.
Of course, moms should not have to cook on Mother’s Day. Fortunately, there will be lots of picnic-style food available at the concert food market. More information on www.sappimothersday.co.za.
“The concert is one of Sappi’s legacy projects in the Lowveld, and is part of the company’s commitment to supporting community events that foster a closer relationship between people and nature,” says Sappi’s Regional Communications Manager Elsabe Coetzee.
Stand a chance to win one of 10 Vodacom tablets and an iPhone 7. All you have to do is describe on the Sappi Lowveld Facebook site or website why your mom is the best (www.sappimothersday.co.za / Facebook: Sappi Lowveld). The day’s proceeds will be donated to the Lowveld National Botanical Garden for conservation development projects.
