Cape Town resident Bomikazi Nomlala-Chihnamo (41) says life her life is all about beads.
She gives existing items a bold, bright and traditional look through intricately-patterned bead cladding.
“My love for beads not only enables creativity but has also helped me to learn and connect with different cultures through beadwork,” says Bomikazi.
She is so taken with Africa’s heritage that she will soon add traditional outfits to her range, which is commercially available through Clareb Accessories.
Bomikazi is one of the entrants in the 2020 Innibos Craft Awards, which is open for entries until midnight on 1 May, 2020. All crafters are invited to enter, no matter which material they work in or what products they create.
“The Craft Awards present crafters with the opportunity to expose their work and push their creativity. It helps to gain exposure and fresh new ideas,” Bomikazi says.
